NSTF Science Expo 2016

The 15th NSTF Science Expo 2016 took place from the 9th to the 16th March 2016 at the Institute for Applied Science, MCAST, Paola. Students from private, church and government schools visited the NSTF Science Expo and got the opportunity to met the students exhibiting their projects, and participate in the hands-on sessions that were organised.

Besides showcasing the students’ projects, the annual event included several interactive workshops by the science communicators and exhibitors, namely: MCAST Institute of Art & Design (Dr. Mark Theuma/ Mr Kurt Catania), Sharklab, STC & Middlesex University, the Armed Forces of Malta, the Department of E-Learning (Ministry for Education), Klaus Conrad (Headstart Technology) and Reuben Ferrante (EEroots), MCAST Institutes, Anna Christodoulou, IEEE, Salome Matos, Anne Kerkoven & Catherine Meyer. The NSTF Science EXPO officially opened on Wednesday 9th March 2016 with a visit from Dr Chris Agius, Parliamentary Secretary for Research, Innovation, Youth and Sport. Various other distinguished guests  visited the event throughout the week including Her Excellency President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, MEPs Dr. Alfred Sant and Dr Therese Comodini Cachia, Ministers Leo Brincat and Carmelo Abela, as well as the Dutch Ambassador Joop Nijssen and the Irish Ambassador Pádraig MacCoscair.  The general public was also invited to attend the open weekend taking place on Saturday 12th March and on Sunday 13th March.


The Expo came to an end with an Awards Night on Thursday, 17th March at the Main Auditorium, MCAST, Paola, where the winners were announced. Hon. Minister Bartolo was present and handed out prizes to the winning students. Kindly follow the link to find out who this year’s winners are.
