NSTF invites Primary and Secondary Schools to visit the NSTF Science Expo between the 15th and 19th of April 2013. An open day for all the family will take place on the 14th of April. Programme for the open day will be published shortly.
This years' Science Expo will feature several activities from different aspects of Science including:
- Lecture-Demonstrations by Dr. Alison Rivett from the University of Bristol ChemLabS outreach team on Atmospheric Science entitled ‘A pollutant’s tale’
- Lecture-Demonstrations by Prof. Richard O’Kennedy from Ireland’s University of Enterprise on Applied Biochemistry
- Lecture-Demonstrations by Prof. Adam Hart from the University of Gloucestershire on Pheromone Chemistry
- Lecture-Demonstrations by Ms. Salome Matos, post graduate student from the University of Edinburgh and member of MILSET Europe Executive Committee on Astronomy and Astrophysics
- Lecture-Demonstrations by Prof. Nardone Pasquale from Université Libre de Bruxelles on Euclid Plane Geometry and the Paper Helicopter
- Talks by the Malta Medical Students Association (MSSA) on healthy lifestyle
- Talks by MIEMA - Malta Intelligent Energy Management Agency onAlternative Energy
- Exhibition of several projects carried out by primary, secondary and 6th Forms / University students
- Lectures on the Wildlife and habitats of the Maltese Islands by Mr. Alfred E. Baldacchino
- Lectures on the Flora of the Maltese Islands by Mr. Edwin Lanfranco
- Audiovisual sessions on Marine Biodiversity by Dr. Alan Deidun
- Robotics: hands on experience with robots by Mr. Paul Cassar (National Coordinator of EU Robotics week and Managing Director at IMS Ltd)
- The Little Scientists’ Village coordinated by Mr. Mark Theuma from the Institute of Art and Design at MCAST.
- Workshop on mechanical science by the eLearning Centre within the Directorate for Quality and Standards in Education (DQSE) and the Directorate for Educational Services (DES)
Booking will take place on a first come first served basis. Deadline to apply is Friday 29th March 2013.
